For me, ham radio was the gateway to an electronics career. Lately, I’ve used a fair amount of Fair-Rite products for EMI reduction in products to pass CE/FCC emissions requirements. I also used their balun cores in the RF section of the PI-Max4-RF, an RF modulated ICCD camera used for fluorescent life time imaging (FLIM) studies. The RF deck in the camera covers 1-200 MHz, with dual DDS frequency generation and about 35W (at peak) RF power. Baluns were used for the single ended driver to push-pull final amplifier and to convert the output back to single ended to drive the image intensifier.
